NEAR SALIA SAHI
In another joint eviction programme, carried out by BDA and BMC for eviction of unauthorised structures over drain and road side government land at Salia Sahi, Maila Tanki Square near Jayadev Vihar, six asbestos roof houses and another structure were demolished by using one excavator without police. The requisition was given by BMC along Drainage Channel No. 4.
With the drainage issue remaining a major headache for the civic administration during the monsoon season and at times, local rains becoming intense and severe, the “Zero tolerance police’’ over drain encroachment is being implemented across the city with the CEMC and the joint enforcement teams.
It can be mentioned here that Municipal Commissioner and Vice-Chairman BDA Dr. Krishan Kumar on August 1 had a visit to the entire area along the Drainage Channel No. 5, from its point of origin in Kharvel Nagar till its confluence with Gangua, and had instructed the officials to take up immediate measures to ensure smooth flow of rainwater in the channel.
