Leh: ITC Sunfeast ignites the spirit of football in Ladakh by organizing the much awaited football tournament, Sunfeast Cup. With an endeavor to build an ecosystem for football across the country, Sunfeast Cup returns to one of the highest topographies again this year. The tournament which kicked off on 19th August, will conclude on the 25th August at NDS ground. This year has more than 40 teams competing for the prestigious trophy in U-13, U-16 Boys and U-16 Girls categories .
Ladakh has seen very few sporting activities being held in the region. Sunfeast Cup is an initiative which reaches out to budding talent from various schools to harness promising talent and spread the love of the game in the region.
The tournament kicked off today with exciting matches between U-13 Boys, Delhi Public school and Nalanda Boys, U-16 Boys Moravian School, Titan FC and Lamdon school and United Dzaw and U-16 Girls Mahabodi school and Druk Padma Kupo. Teams United Dzawa, Druk Padma Kupo, Delhi Public school and Titan FC emerged victorious in the first leg of their respective categories.
Sunfeast Cup has taken the step to foster football and encourage children to showcase their talent in the difficult terrain of Ladakh. With the constant encouragement and positive response received over the years in North Eastern states, West Bengal & Ladakh, Sunfeast endeavor to develop a strong ecosystem for the sport in the country. In its very first edition in Ladakh, the tournament saw unprecedented participation from 34 teams. Sunfeast Cup has come back with the second edition to provide this unique platform for kids in Ladakh to facilitate their journey towards becoming passionate footballers in the future.
The winning teams from each category would receive a total cash prize of INR 50,000/-
