Bhubaneshwar: Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India’s top FMCG companies, has for the first time collaborated with Indo German Focal Point (IGFP), a leading nonprofit organisation aimed at promoting Safety, Health and Social Protection for workers in enterprises, state and non-state institutions, to raise awareness on industrial safety and social security. The Coca-Cola Company’s global vision of ensuring a safe working environment for its workers is in tandem with the 7 golden rules for zero accidents as laid down by the International Social Security Association (ISSA). In line with this vision, HCCB conducted an event an in association with IGFP and supported by the Govt. of Odisha that included trainings for companies in the Khorda Industrial Estate to ensure a “Zero Accident” working environment. The event was attended by companies such as Britannia, IOCL, and Indo Nissin among others
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Niranjan Sahu IAS member of Odisha Public Service Commission and Sub Collector Khorda Administration and presided over by Mr. Sanat Kumar Mohanty, (OAS) Collector & DM – Khordha. The event which saw workshop trainings were conducted by Dr. RC Rout Director Health Intelligence Government of Odisha; Dr. Malay Pradhan General Manager Odisha State Disaster Management Authority, along with Mr. G Ganesh Factory Head – HCCB and Mr. BK Sahu, CEO of IGFP.
Mr. G Ganesh Khorda Factory Head HCCB, said, “The importance of Safety and Health with Social Security has gained tremendous importance especially during COVID-19. We are delighted to be associating with Indo German Focal Point to launch an awareness training program for companies in the Khorda Industrial Areas. HCCB and IGFP have similar visions when it comes to ensuring worker safety and we are leveraging the synergy to relay the importance of industrial safety and social security to other players as well. I would also like to thank our authorities and representatives from the Odisha Government for taking out the time and conducting this workshop”
The workshop included a series of technical sessions that focused on the importance of safety and health for industry workers, the emphasis towards zero tolerance for infection through adherence to government guidelines of wearing masks, ensuring social distancing, usage of sanitizers, washing hands the importance of getting vaccinations and so on.
The workshop also included a virtual presentation made by Mr. Bernard Treichel, Speaker from International Social Security Association (ISSA) Geneva on “Vision zero – For a safe workplace” which focused on measures that can be implemented to ensure Accident Prevention and zero accidents in industries.
