Bhubaneswar: With an aim to help enhance industrial safety standards and prevent loss of lives during industrial fire accidents, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) PvtLtd’sKhurda planthosted a training program for manufacturing industries on effective firefighting, rescue and evacuation. The training program wasorganized by the Office of the Deputy Director of Department of Factories and Boilers in collaboration with the Department of Home Guard and Fire Service, Government of Odisha.
The program witnessed wide participation from a large number of industries operating in Odisha such as Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Britannia Industries Ltd among others. About 200 executives, includingUnit Heads from various industries participated in the half day training program.
In the district crisis group meeting held in the KhurdaCollectorate, program convener Sri Swaroop Jena, Asst. Director Factories and Boilers, Government of Odisha said, “We greatly appreciate the initiative taken by HCCB to organize the training program in collaboration with the concerned departments of Government of Odisha. Industrial fire safety is an area of critical importance as Odisha continues its march to become a preferred manufacturing hub in Eastern India.”
The program covered effective firefighting techniques, rescue and evacuation process during an emergency. It also taught the participants essential lifesaving skills and methods to effectively utilize any available resource at hand for rescue and evacuation, during an emergency situation.

HCCBhas been operating its KhurdaPlant since the early 2000s. The plant has 7 manufacturing lines and produces a range of Minute Maid and Maaza juices, Kinley packaged water and sparkling products – Thums Up, Sprite, Limca, Cooca-Cola, Fnata etc. The plant is one of the largest FMCG manufacturing units in Odisha and there are plans for further expansion in future.
