Govt given more emphasis on enhancing energy production in country, reducing import bill on it: Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi; Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said, the government has given more emphasis on enhancing energy production in the country and reducing import bill on it.

Addressing media in New Delhi, Mr Pradhan said, the increase in production of domestic Oil and Gas will reduce the country’s import dependence. He said, it will improve the energy security of the country and also save foreign exchange on import bills.

He also said, the policy reforms taken in Exploration and Licensing Policy focuses on increasing exploration activities in unexplored areas, incentivising enhanced gas production in the form of reduced royalty rates. He said, it also encourages private sector participation to increase production from marginal and small nomination fields.

On LPG connection, Mr Pradhan said, LPG connections have been provided to 26 crore consumers out of which, 13 crore connections were provided in the present government in just four years and nine months. He said, 6.75 crore LPG connection have been released under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

The Minister also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of 2000 kilometre Kandla-Gorakhpur LPG pipeline at Gorakhpur on 24th of this month.

The project will cost 9000 crore rupees. It will benefit Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
