First KBK District – Level archery competition successfully held at Lanjigarh

 

Lanjigarh: The first KBK District – Level archery competition 2018 organised by Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh in collaboration with District administration, Kalahandi concluded today here at Vedanta Lanjigarh township playground. Forty six participants belonging to five districts of Rayagada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Subarnapur and Malkangiri participated and showed their skills in the tournament.

The sheer enthusiasm shown by the young participants aiming for the juniors – subjuniors category left the audience mesmerized. In 40 mtr Junior category, Manas Pat Majhi (Kalahandi), Simanchal Kadraka (Rayagada), Purusottam Munda (Kalahandi) came first, second and third respectively. Simanchal Kadraka ( Rayagada) won the 30 mtr Junior’s category while Manas Pat Majhi (Kalahandi) and Purusottam Munda (Kalahandi) came second and third respectively. In the 30 mtr Sub-Juinor category, Nitha Nial Mallick (Kalahandi), Mithun Naik (Kalahandi) and Suresh Wika (Malkangiri) were ranked first, second and third respectively. In 20 mtr Sub-Junior challange, Suresh Wika (Malkangiri) stole the show with his performance and bagged the first position, whereas Mithun Naik (Kalahandi) and Nitha Nial Mallick (Kalahandi) came second and third respectively.

Present during the award giving ceremony, Chief guest Mr Mirdha Toppo, Sub-collector, Kalahandi appreciated the initiative taken by the company and encouraging the participants, he urged upon all concerned to look forward to create more such sports-platforms in the region. Mr. Shivanand Mohanty, Head PR & Corporate Communications, Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh reiterated Vedanta’s commitment to work towards holistic development of the region including sports and culture. Present among others, (Er) Fakir Mohan Majhi, Chairman, Lanjigarh Block, Mr Bijit Kumar Nayak, Principal-SSD High School, Kalahandi, Mr Grant Durling, Head HSE, Vedanta limited,, Lanjigarh wished the participants all round success in their future endeavours. Ms Harmeet Sehra, Chief Community Development Officer, Vedanta limited, lanjigarh gave the vote of thanks.

The two-day archery competition was a pioneering initiative in the region which was appreciated by the community at large and was successfully coordinated by the volunteers drawn from all sections of society including community, District administration and Vedanta officials.
