Deba Snana Purnima festival of Holy Trinity begins in Puri

Puri: Deba Snana Purnima festival of Holy Trinity begins. Probably for first time in history of Srimandir, Deba Snana Purnima festival of Holy Trinity underway without devotees due to nationwide lockdown in the wake of Covid19 pandemic.

Divine bath of Holy Trinity to begin shortly after servitors fetch a total of 108 pitchers of aromatic water from Suna Kua (well) near Sitala Mandir to Snana Bedi. The holy water is prepared using Chua, Agura, Chandan & purified with Sodasa Upachara. After Dhadi Pahandi, Lord Jagannath and His divine siblings seated on Snana Bedi (bathing altar) for the bathing ritual.

As many as 38 platoons of police have been deployed in the city to ensure that people don’t gather at any place to have a glimpse of the Snan Yatra.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC would be in force in and around the Shreemandir from 10 pm on Thursday till 2 pm on Saturday. 150 officers assisted by 38 platoons of forces would be on duty from 10 pm Thursday. Police would work in four shifts.

Persons on duty would only be allowed entry into the shrine. Barricades have been erected and CCTV cameras installed. As many as 20 drone cameras would keep strict vigil on public movement.
