Cuttack: In its continuous endeavour to provide a better livelihood for all – Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. (DCBL) has launched a series of initiatives to support the local communities by boosting infrastructure development around DCBL’s Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works (KCMW) at Tangi, Cuttack. The company has recently spent over Rs. 12 lakhs towards the construction of Community Centres, Toilet Blocks, and renovation of Temples and Religious Mandaps as part of its CSR initiatives in the region.
“We are committed to serving local communities in Cuttack and Jajpur districts and have undertaken a series of CSR initiatives in the region to improve the standard of living of the people. We are developing Community Centres, Mandaps, undertaken repairing works at various Temples, and also working towards creating a Hygienic environment by constructing Toilet Blocks around these places. We will continue to extend our support to the people and will increase infrastructure development in the region.” said, Mr. Ramawtar Sharma, Unit Head, Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works, during inauguration of a community centre building built by DCBL at the Old age home (SEVAK) run by a voluntary organisation, in Solar village of Jajpur district.
A community centre is an essential need for any village. Basis request of the Sarpanch Garudagaon G.P. and the villagers Dalmia Cement has extended its support for the construction of a Community Centre at Haladibasant village. This has benefited the villagers in terms of ease of hosting various ceremonies and functions.
Committed to creating a clean India, DCBL is aligned to the Swachh Bharat Mission. Therefore, the company has taken steps to address the health and sanitation challenges faced by the local community. Since open defecation has been a major issue in this region, the company has constructed a Common Toilet Block at Hajrat Alli Pitha to ensure proper hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases. Temples and Mandaps have great significance in the social, cultural and religious life of the people of Odisha. As a responsible corporate citizen, DCBL has supported the local community in renovating these structures whenever needed.
The Jagannath Temple at Bhagatpur is an old temple in the region. However, the infrastructure of the temple was not in a good shape. The front portion of the temple was on the verge of breaking down, hence on the request of the villagers and Sarpanch Kanheipur G.P., the company provided support for the roof slab casting of the temple.
Additionally, the residents of Sahoo Sahi, Bhagatpur village requested a puja mandap for festivals as it would foster the spirit of cohesion apart from ensuring convenience and easy access, irrespective of any season. On the request of the Sarpanch Kanheipur G.P., DCBL agreed and assisted in the construction of the puja mandap. Both these structures were inaugurated in the presence of Head Logistics Mr. Raj Kumar Mishra, Sarpanch Kanheipur G.P. and local community members.
In village Sapanpur, DCBL helped the construction of the Shiv mandap and one Kitchen room and Flooring work near Shiv temple which was requested by the villagers and the Sarpanch of Garudagaon G.P.
