Puri: At 6:30 AM, the extremely severe #CycloniFANI lay centered about 80 km south-southwest of Puri, 65 km southeast of Gopalpur says IMD. CycloneFani is approaching Odisha at a speed of 17 kmph; landfall expected between 8 AM and 10 AM tomorrow (May3); wind speed during landfall expected to be around 170 to 180 kmph.
After crossing Odisha, the cyclone is likely to move towards West Bengal before tapering off. It is, however, still likely to impact parts of the northeast, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
