Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated New office of Export Inspection Council & Export Inspection Agency at Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar : Export Inspection Council & Export Inspection Agency-Kolkata, Sub Office –Bhubaneswar (Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India) inaugurated the “New office And Laboratory Complex” at Chandaka Industrial Estate, Patia, Bhubaneswar. The inaugural was done by Shri Suresh Prabhu- Hon’ble Minister of commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India, in the presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Government of India.
Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Chairman, EIC & Joint Secretary Ministry of Commerce & Industry welcomed the audience followed by the overview of Seafood Export Trade and Concerns, President, Seafood Exporters Association of India. The keynote address was given by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and the Inaugural address was given by Shri Suresh Prabhu.
The Export Inspection Council (EIC) was set up by the Government of India under section 3 of the Export (quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963, in order to ensure sound development of export trade of India through Quality Control and Inspection and for matters connected thereof. EIC is an official export certification body and mandated to ensure the compliance with the requirement of Trade partners.
EIC and its regional office at Bhubaneswar has been striving best to achieve the ultimate goal of serving the export trade community effectively, and developing trust among its international trading partners to achieve global recognition. Setting up of the state of the art infrastructure with testing facility is a step towards the Government of India initiatives to facilitate the trade.
