Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that Odisha has reduced the number of fatalities due to lightning despite 37% rise in the number of lightning strikes, according to a report by Climate Resilient Observing-Systems Promotion Council. Early warning and disaster resilience measures helped in reducing the fatalities, he added.

Chief Minister paid humble tribute to Gaurishankar Ray, one of the pioneers in the formation of Odisha as a separate State. Mentioning that he will always be remembered for his contribution to the protection for Odia language and literature along with beginning of renaissance among the Odias through the ‘Utkal Deepika’ newspaper.
