Sambalpur: Annual Mines Safety Fortnight celebrations 2017-18 concluded at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) with coal miners displaying their achievements and mechanised ways of clean coal production. Mr Prasanta Kumar Sarkar, Director General Mines Safety (DGMS) was the chief guest on the occasion, which was presided over by Mr A K Jha, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The DGMS inaugurated the exhibition displaying company’s achievements and equipment being used in coal mining operations. Besides corporate stall exhibiting company’s overall achievements vis-à-vis CSR, pollution control activities and coal production, various units, departments and vendors of the company exhibited innovative ideas and tools. Dr Asim Kumar Sinha, Dy DGMS, SEZ Ranchi, Mr Satish Kumar, DMS, Chaibasa Region, Mr JP Singh, Director (Technical/Operations)-MCL, Mr L N Mishra, Director (Personnel), Mr Munawar Khursheed, IRPF, Chief Vigilance Officer-MCL, Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning), Mr KR Vasudavan, Director (Finance), Mr Kishore Chandra Patel, president-OCMS(INTUC), Mr Shankar Prasad Behera, General Secretary, OCMLF(HMS), Mr Anit Chakraborty, General Secretary, BCMWU(AITUC), Mr Bijay Kumar Sethi, General Secretary, CMOAI and Mr AK Singh, GM (S&R), MCL HQs shared the dias.The dignitaries also presented awards to the best performing personnel and units of the company for their excellence in safety. The youngest subsidiary of Coal India, MCL is the second highest coal producing company in the country.
