Dhamra: Adani Dhamra Ports, subsidiary of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) celebrates World Environment Day on June 5, 2019 spreading message amongst the employees, residents and local masses on the importance of keeping the environment clean, green and healthy.
United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) declared “Beat Air Pollution” as the theme for this year’s World Environment day. Adopting this theme, Dhamra Port is working towards combatting the air pollution for its minimisation & also conducting various activities focused on creating awareness on air pollution. According to the United Nation, millions of people are dying early due to air pollution. World Environment Day 2019 will urge all industries, corporates, NGOs, communities, Government and individuals to come forward and to explore available sustainable resources, renewable energy and green technologies to improve air quality in industries, cities and regions across the world.
Adani Dhamra Port, India’s deepest port in eastern India celebrated World Environment Day by initiating a weeklong awareness programs and competition at the port premises and nearby village panchayats to express their commitment and responsibilities towards environmental protection and sustainability.
Dhamra Port’s senior officials, employees, contractors, workers, township ladies and kids voluntarily participated in the various programs planned during weeklong celebration by Environment Department. Dhamra Port began the Environment Day celebrations from 31.05.19 till 05.06.19 by conducting awareness programmes, Environment, drawing competition in port premises, Dosinga panchayat and Koithkhola panchayat. As a part of the celebrations the employees, contractor, workers and township residents initiated the green drive by planting tree saplings, with a pledge to plant more trees in the port premises and neighbourhood area during the year.
Weeklong program was ended with beautiful drama by township school children followed by prize distribution to the winners of various competitions. The program was attended by Sri Subrat Tripathy (CEO) and Sri Sudeep Dasgupta (COO) along with other senior management, employees, contractors and township residents.
