43 dead, 40 wounded as fire engulfs factory building in Delhi’s Anaj Mandi area

New Delhi: At least 43 people have died and more than 40 wounded after a major fire broke out in Anaj Mandi area in Central Delhi on Sunday morning. Fire broke out at a house in Delhi’s Anaj Mandi area this morning. 11 people rescued so far, 15 fire engines at the spot.

Fire officials say that the cause has not been ascertained yet.A fire official also confirmed that several people, who were trapped inside the house-cum-factory, died after reaching hospital. The fire squad managed to rush 50 people to four separate hospitals, where many succumbed to their injuries. While some of the people were taken to LNJP Hospital, others were taken to RML Hospital, Lady Hardinge Hospital and Hindu Rao Hospital as well.
