18 people killed in lightning, Odisha CM announces ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for kin of deceased

Bhubaneswar: 18 people were killed and four others injured as lightning struck them  in different districts in the State on  Sunday. CM Naveen Patnaik expresses grief over death of 18 people in lightning, announces ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for kin of deceased .
In Bhadrak district, lightning claimed one life each at Orali and Rambila villages under Tihidi block. One person each was also killed in lightning in three villages under Chandabali block of the district. Similarly in Baleswar district, while one person was killed and one injured in Mahamadabad village under Srijanga panchayat, another person was killed and two injured at Kuligan under Khandapada police l.

In Kendrapada district a house caught fire after lightning bolt struck it at Andulapur under Rajnagar Tehsil in Kendrapara district. One person was killed due to lightning at Petachhela and two others at Kuchila villages under Mahakalapada block and Bantala village under Patakura block of the district respectively.

One death each was reported from Anra village under Banspal block of Keonjhar district and at Balaramprasad village in Angul district.
