Vigilance Awareness Week-2019 begins at MCL

Sambalpur: Setting in motion an Integrity Tableau for public awareness on corruption-free society marked the beginning of Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), an subsidiary of Coal India Limited having operations in Odisha.

Mr B N Shukla, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, unfurled the Vigilance Flag at the corporate office and administered “integrity pledge for citizens” to the employees at headquarters.In his address on the occasion, CMD Mr B N Shukla referred to Vedas and Upanishads, saying, “honesty has remained the lifestyle of people in India. It has remained been there in fundamentals of life which a person in tender age used to learn from the parents.”

“Where there is honesty, there is justice and without honesty there can’t be fairness in administering justice,” the CMD said.

Embracing integrity as a way of life will always be helpful, Mr Shukla said, adding “We should only accept the rightful gains in life with all gratitude to the Almighty.” With a green signal from the CMD, an integrity tableau on “Integrity — A way of Life” was set in motion to visit the peripheral villages and markets to spread the message on corruption-free society during this week-long observance.

Mr KR Vasudevan, Director (Finance/I-c Personnel) was prominent among senior officers and staff present at the inaugural ceremony.

A series of events on this year’s VAW theme have been organised for employees and school children.The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Mr Sudhakar Sahay, Deputy General Manager (Vigilance).Similar programmes are being organised in the coalfields of the company spread over in Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Angul districts.
