Lanjigarh: Vedanta Aluminium, Lanjigarh unit inaugurated the community centre at Dahikhal with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of infrastructure development project Pragati. Covering 11 villages in the Sibapadar gram panchayat, over 1500 villagers, community members, youth clubs will benefit from this multi-purpose platform, a common junction point for the people to conduct meetings and events.
Commenting on the initiative, Rakesh Mohan, COO – Vedanta Aluminium, Lanjigarh unit said, “Vedanta is committed to the social well-being of the community in the peripheral villages of the region. We’re thrilled to see the plan become a reality, and we’re excited to have the local community as our partners and beneficiaries. This opening takes our initiative a step forward in creating a truly collaborative, community space that fosters socio-economic development in the region. Many can now avail the social benefits from the community centre, a common, multi-purpose platform serving for community events and meetings.”
Under project Pragati, the refinery is supporting the basic development of infrastructure including road construction, drinking water projects, and community centres in villages as per local requirements. Vedanta’s pro-active efforts towards the overall community development were much appreciated by the guests present.
A medical health camp was organised for the villagers of Dahikhal, where over 200 villagers availed the medical benefits. Five doctors, including two doctors from the District Headquarter Hospital, Bhawanipatna and one Medical Officer In-charge (MOIC), Muniguda were present, conducting medical check-ups.
Present during the occasion were local intellectuals, community members, youth club members, along with Vedanta officials.
