Former Chief Secretary of Odisha Lalat Indu Parija passes Away

Cuttack: Former Chief Secretary of Odisha Lalat Indu Parija passed away at a private hospital in Cuttack in a cardiac arrest at the age of 89 today. During his service tenure Late Parija was posted as secretary of various major departments of Govt of Odisha along with this he had taken charge as Chief Secretary of Odisha twice. He was the son of eminent scientist Dr. Pranakrushna Parija, a world renowned Botanist. Late Shri Parija was known as an active administrator, articulate speaker, good cricketer and prominent columnist. He was also the Captain of Odisha Ranji cricket team.

In March 2019, he had released his book ‘Fate Takes A Hand’ focusing on 40 years public life as a government servant under Government of Odisha in various positions — Collector to Chief Secretary. He was survived by his two sons Sri Bharat Indu Parija, Sri Jagat Indu Parija, daughters-in-law and granddaughters. The last rites were performed at Khannagar Smsana, Cuttack. Along with high level officials of Govt. of Odisha, several litterateurs, sports personalities, media persons and leaders from across the political spectrum were present for the former Chief Secretary’s last rites.
