Cuttack: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Radhamohan Singh dedicated the improved front facade and circulating area of Cuttack railway station at a function held at the CRRI in Cuttack on Tuesday.
They also dedicated the six-metre-wide foot over-bridges, more passenger facilities, including an escalator, and announced an additional stoppage of the Visakhapatnam-Amritsar-Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express and the Puri-Ajmer-Puri Express at Naraj Marthapur railway station on this occasion.
The Ministry of Railways had sanctioned approximately Rs 10 crore for undertaking the facilities, which included development of circulating area, parking spaces, wider approach roads, development of green spaces, six-metre-wide new FOB across all platforms, provision of escalators/lifts, upgradation of waiting rooms, retiring rooms, food plazas, water booths,and platforms. In order to improve security, additional CCTV cameras and integrated security system have been installed.
Besides, façade improvement with monumental lighting, illuminated fountains and chandeliers in concourse were done. Thematic painting on approach road and walls along the railway line, development of green spaces with large scale tree plantation were done.
