Shri Sarat Kishore Panda, Head, HR (Barbil unit) said, “Road accidents cause immense economic hardship and emotional trauma to their families. There is an urgent need to make our roads safer as the loss of lives and limbs cannot be accepted at the price of mobility.”

On the occasion the drivers were administered oath on ‘Road Safety and Humanity’. They were sensitized their role while driving and when they come across an accident. During the session they carried placards with sayings like, “Drive With Care, Life Has No Spare”; “Lane Driving is Sane Driving”; “Mr Late is Better Than Late Mr” and “Wear Helmet and Save Head” among many others.

Distribution of safety shoes, safety helmets and face masks marked the event. At the end of the best drivers were awarded ‘On Spot’ prizes.

The event organised by Human Resources department witnessed the presence of senior officials including Shri Sushil Agrawal, Head, Commercial; Shri Hercules Jena, Head, Fire & Safety and Dr Ajit Jena. Since there is a rise in road accident deaths as compared to deaths from other crimes, it was decided to hold such awareness programmes throughout the year at various places in nearby areas.
