Bhubaneswar: Today an MoU has been signed between the Chief Executive Officer of NASSCOM Foundation Mr. Shrikant Sinha and the Chief Mentor of Trident Group of Institution Dr. B.B.Panigrahi for setting up a “thingQbator” which is one of 5(Five) IoT based incubator facilities being set up in India through the funding of CISCO Inc and implemented through the Nasscom Foundation.
Cisco Inc. is a California based MNC computer networking giant, controlling almost 70% of world market in various networking products. The India office is located at Bangalore. Under their CSR programme, they have taken up many activities, one of which is developing skills in Internet Of Things (IoT).
To empower the creation of next generation entrepreneur ecosystem in the field of Internet Of Things, Cisco has decided to set up “thingQbators” in various parts of the world. In India, they have chosen 5(Five) higher academic institutions who have excelled in the field of IoT .These are IIT-Benares, Amrita University Coimbatore, Indira Gandhi Women’s University New Delhi, Trident Academy of Technology, Bhubaneswar and Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) Kerala.
For this occasion, an IoT conclave was organized in the Trident campus where Mr. B.N.Satpathy, Consultant of Niti Ayog, New Delhi was the Chief Guest. Sri Satpathy stressed on the out-of-the-box thinking and risk taking ability of Odisha’s technical students eventually to become job creators rather than job seekers. Mr. Sinha gave several examples as to how there have been disruptive problem solvers coming out of engineering colleges who have introduced IoT for betterment in the sectors of Agriculture, Healthcare and Education, amongst others.
