Joda: Tata Steel at Joda in the Keonjhar district of Odisha organised a certificate distribution programme for the passed-out students of the current batch from its Skill Development Centre established at Joda West. Mr Rajesh Kumar, Chief (Joda), Tata Steel graced as Chief Guest and distributed the certificates to the students. A total of 59 students studying in the current session of April-September 2018 received their certificates from the Chief Guest. Out of 59 students, 55 students were trained in Computer Course and 4 students were passed in Spoken English Course.
On the occasion, Mr Rajesh Kumar congratulated the students and wished for their bright future. He appreciated the centre staff and Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) for their tireless effort in running this centre from so long. Mr Ajay Kumar Thakur, Senior Manager (Safety), Joda East Iron Mine, Tata Steel, Mr Tanmay Kar, Unit Head, TSRDS, Mr Sunil Kumar Sahu, Manager, Corporate Communications, Tata Steel, Joda and employees of TSRDS were present on this occasion.
TSRDS, the CSR wing of Tata Steel has established this centre with an objective to enhance and upgrade the IT and soft skills of youth of this region. Inclusive development, exploring employability issues at the grassroot levels and building a sustainable training-cum-counselling model for under-developed students are key objectives of this intervention. Tata Steel has partnered with NIIT Foundation to operate the centre. The centre started in August 2015 and since then 506 youths have successfully completed their training.
