Koraput: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said his party will provide free education to every girl in Odisha if voted to power in the forthcoming elections.
Addressing a public meeting in Koraput district, Rahul said his party will provide Rs 2,000 widow allowance and financial assistance for marriage of every poor woman.
Interacting with women at a convention on International Women’s Day, Rahul expressed concern over rising violence against women and said his party maintains zero tolerance for atrocities on women.
“Odisha is the poorest state despite abundance of resources as everything is being looted. If Congress comes to power, it will waive off farm loans, provide marriage kit to women, and hike allowance for widows to Rs 2000/,” the Congress chief said.
Rahul also assured that Congress will appoint special officers in every panchayat and set up financial corporation for women entrepreneurs.
