Bhubaneswar: The State Government has decided to run an additional 200 buses to the pilgrim town Puri during the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri beginning July 4.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here under the chairmanship of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central Range Anil Samal on Monday.
Discussions were held on several issues, including bus fares. Strict actions would be taken against private buses if they charge higher fare than the actual one, said the RDC.
The meeting also stressed on coordination between all private buses during the nine-day festival. The buses would operate round-the clock during the Gundicha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besa.
Besides, facilities like first-aid and drinking water would be provided at every bus stoppage and e-rickshaws will be made available at Talabania here for Divyang passengers.
The meeting was attended by Puri SP Uma Shankar Dash and owners of private buses plying from the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to Puri.
