Bhubaneswar: To showcase and promote the rich cultural heritage of Odisha, the 9th Rural Cultural Meet was organized by NTPC Talcher Kaniha yesterday. Under this event, a total of 484 students from 35 different schools participated this year. To provide a platform for school students, the Rural Cultural Meet was launched as a CSR initiative by NTPC Kaniha.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Sudip Nag, CGM, Talcher Kaniha along with other senior officials. Shri Jakir Khan, DGM (HR) gave the welcome address and highlighted various CSR initiatives taken by the Station to promote education and girl empowerment. The cultural performances were judged by Ritika Mandal and Priyadarshini Pradhan from Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sudip Nag encouraged the students to perform and participate with all their hearts. He spoke about the significance of the Cultural Meet in promoting the hidden talents of the school students. “This unique Cultural Meet provides an excellent platform to the students in boosting their confidence and extra-curricular skills in traditional dances and music”, he said. In the senior group category, Kalpataruru Maa Bhairabi High School bagged the first prize award. In the junior and middle group category, Balangi Upper Primary School and LCM Hutting School were the winners respectively.
From time immemorial, the coastal state of Odisha has been a center for various artists, traditional dance forms and vibrant music. By organizing such events, NTPC Talcher Kaniha is enabling a dynamic environment where rural communities around the Station are given recognition and accomplishment.
