Nitin Gadkari laid Foundation Stones for Two Road Projects worth Rs 746 crore in Punjab

New Delhi: The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stones for two road projects worth Rs 746 crore today one each at Phagwara in Kapurthala district and Sri Anandpur Sahib in Roopnagar district of Punjab. At Sri Anandpur Sahib, he laid the foundation stone of upgradation of 67.64 km long Banga-Garhshankar-Sri Anandpur Sahib-Naina Devi road at a tentative cost of Rs 581 crore in which 8.80km area of the project falls in Himachal Pradesh. He also laid the foundation stone of construction of 2.555 km long elevated structure and vehicular underpass on NH-44 in Phagwara city at a cost of Rs 165 crore.

Addressing a public meeting at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Shri Nitin Gadkari said that six lane National Highway Delhi to Beas will be upgraded upto Sri Amritsar. He also assured the channelization of Swan River in the area. He also paid obeisance at Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib in Roopnagar district of Punjab. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Vijay Sampla, Public Works (B&R) and Information Technology Minister, Punjab, Shri Vijay Inder Singla, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Shri Shwait Malik thanked Shri Gadkari for laying the foundation of these projects.

These projects will benefit the local populace by way of increased tourism, safe journey, reduced travel time, and enhanced economic activity and employment.
