Meeting takes place between Madhya Pradesh CM and PM Modi

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, at his residence in New Delhi today. In a meeting that lasted for about an hour, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan apprised Prime Minister Shri Modi with the current situation of Corona in Madhya Pradesh. Along with this, he explained in detail about the efforts made by the state government so far for Corona control in the state. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed the Prime Minister about the preparations being made by the state government to deal with the possible third wave of Corona.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed the Prime Minister in detail about the progress of Corona vaccination being administered in the state. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that only 160 positive cases of Corona remain in the state and the positivity rate has come down to 0.2 percent. Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the central government has taken a very important decision by taking up the work of Covid vaccination in its own hands, which will have far reaching consequences. Earlier, each state government was adopting different methods to purchase the vaccine, due to which the outcome was not positive and the work of purchasing the vaccine became lax. Now, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the central government will purchase the vaccine for all the states without any discrimination and distribute it to all the states and people will be vaccinated.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed that a public awareness campaign will be launched in the entire state for vaccination from June 21. In this, the members of the state Cabinet, MLAs and MPs will together motivate the public for vaccination. Along with this, people will also be told that vaccination is the only protection against Covid. Vaccination of the 18 to 44 age group has been taken up by the central government under the campaign, for which the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister. He informed that the state government has the capacity to vaccinate 5 lakh people every day and by the end of December, about 70 percent population of the entire state would be vaccinated.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also held a discussion on the issue of farmers with the Prime Minister in detail. The main issues discussed with D.A.P. and getting fair price to farmers on moong purchase. He said that the reasonable price of moong production would prove to be lifesaving for the farmers.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating economic condition of the states, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the income of the state has come down significantly due to Corona curfew. He told the Prime Minister that last year, the states were allowed to take loans of 5 and a half percent of GDP from the market. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan urged that this exemption should be continued in the current year. It may be noted that the central government has reduced the exemption from 5 and a half to 4 and a half percent. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan told that after discussion with the Prime Minister, everyone will be given free ration till Diwali (November) under the Prime Minister’s guidance.

Prime Minister Shri Modi listened carefully to the issues raised by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and assured all possible assistance by the central government on the state government’s handling of Covid and other issues raised by the Chief Minister.
