JSPL Observes World Environment Day with Massive Plantation

Angul: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) observed World Environment Day with a Run for Environment called as “Greenathon” followed by colossal plantation drive at its Jindal Nagar Township to spread the message of green and clean environment. Executive Director (i/c) and Location Head of the unit Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, along with Mr. Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay, CTO JSPL and Mr. Bharat Rohra, ED Phase 1B, flagged off the “Greenathon” early in the morning, where hundreds of employees with their family, members of Jindal Mahila Samiti (JMS) led by its President Mrs. Sujata Saraogi, Mrs. Sunaina Rohra and other HoDs of various departments and Yoga Guru Swami Satyabindu Saraswati participated. The programme witnessed awareness building through different educative slogans on environment, huge plantation and distribution of awards.
Addressing on this occasion all the senior officials of JSPL reiterated the importance of a clean environment for a healthy life, and urged the society, especially the young mass to pledge for the environment where they lives in. “Protecting environment with efficient technologies and methods are part of JSPL’s sustainable practice. At Angul, we have adopted various mechanisms to make this mega plant environment friendly. On this day we reaffirm our commitment for contributing towards a greener world,” said Mr. DK Saraogi, .
The Chairman of JSPL Mr. Naveen Jindal also reached out the mass through different social network platforms and requested on this day “to pledge, to ensure the safety of mother Earth and asked everyone to plant more trees and protect the existing ones”.
Winners of various competitions like Slogan, Drawing, Quiz and Essay on environment, organised with environment theme were also awarded on this occasion.
The EMD department under the guidance of JSPL management and its HoD Mr. Alok Kumar Sahu coordinated the programme with the help of other departments to spread the awareness messages and encourage the participants.
