JSPL Foundation observes the World Breastfeeding Week

Angul: JSPL Foundation in association with ICDS, Angul, is observing the World Breastfeeding Week (1 -7 August) at various Anganwadi Centres (AWC) of the district. As part of the observations Members from Janch Committee, mothers committee, lactating mother and pregnant women and adolescent girls are being sensitised by the JSPL Foundation along with local AWC Workers and ASHAs on the benefits of Breast milk and how it works as an ideal nutrition for infants.

In line with the theme of the year – ‘Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility’ – the programmes focus sensitising the community for on importance of breastfeeding to new born children at least up to six months.

 

Looking at the present COVID-19 pandemic situation, the community members and participants are also being informed and trained on how to keep their babies away from COVID virus. For proper care of the babies, JSPL Foundation has been providing special utensils for use by the participants.

 

The World Breastfeeding Week is observed every year from 1 -7 August to encourage breastfeeding and improve health of babies across the world.
