Angul: Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) celebrated the 73rd Independence Day at its O.P. Jindal School campus in Jindal Nagar Township, Angul. The Chief Operating Officer – Odisha Mr. Pankaj Gautam unfurled the tricolour and received guard of honour from the security personnel in presence of Jindal Mahila Samiti President Mrs. Pratibha Gautam, various department heads, employees, their family members, local community and the staff members of the school and children.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Pankaj Gautam read out the message of JSPL’s Chairman Mr. Naveen Jinal, where, Mr. Jindal, has greeted everyone a Happy Independence Day and advised to remember the freedom fighters and the brave hearts who laid their life for our independence. In his message Mr. Jindal, emphasized the role of a corporate entity in nation building and how a dedicated and committed workforce of any nation can take it to new horizons. Mr Jindal also congratulated each and every one of JSPL for creating new records with each passing days. “We are extremely happy for the opportunity to serve the nation by contributing in strengthening the rail network of our nation”, he added in his message.
Mr. Pankaj Gautam, in his address, expressed his happiness as JSPL’s Angul unit has made several records by producing highest ever Hot Metal by any Blast Furnace in the country and record production made by SMS, Plate Mill & Bar Mill in recent past. He also thanked the local community for their support and active participation in building the plant and congratulated various departments for their achievements and success.
On this occasion Security personnel were awarded for their bravery and achievements during the year. The Independence Day was also celebrated at Shramik Vihar of JSPL, DAV Savitri Jindal High-School at Badamahitala (R&R Colony) of JSPL and OPJCC at Angul, where Mr. Asish Ranjan Mohanty, Mr. Bijayananda Swain and Mr. Soumeek Das hoisted the national flag in presence of other official and students respectively.
Senior functionaries like Mr. Damodar Mittal (President-Steel Making Zone), Mr. Alok Malhotra (VP-HR), Mr. S.K. Sharma (VP-CSR&R), Mr. Ashish Pandey (AVP – Bar Mill), and Mr. Chhanda Charan Das, Principal O.P. Jindal School were also present in the program.
Like every year, in order to reach the school children of the periphery, JSPL’s Corporate Social Responsible Team distributed sweets among around 22000 children of 74 schools and 86 Anganwadi Centers of 19 Gram Panchayat of Angul district.
At Bhubaneswar JSPL also celebrated the Independence Day with hoisting of national flag by Mr. Prashant Kumar Hota, Executive Vice President & Administrative Head of JSPL’s Bhubaneswar Office. This was followed by inauguration of a free drinking water distribution kiosk. People commuting on the road in front of JSPL Office in Bhubaneswar can get chilled RO drinking 24×7.
