Bhubaneswar: SAKSHAM is a significant annual event which is organized jointly by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Oil Industry under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India and guidelines of PCRA (petroleum Conservation research association) with sole purpose of bringing awareness among the people on need of Oil & Gas conservation and means to do it. During this period various activities are carried out in sectors like Transport, Industrial, Agriculture and Household to spread the message on Fuel Conservation.
Recognizing its importance, the Ministry of Petroleum decided to conduct such drive every year. This year it is going to be observed during 11.04.2022 – 30.04.2022 across the country.
Inaugural function of Oil & Gas Conservation Awareness Drive – सक्षम’22 was conducted at Jayadev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar in presence of Chief Guest Padma Shri Awardee Shri Sudarshan Pattnaik , International Sand Artist, officiating SLC Oil Industry Odisha, Additional Director PCRA and other Senior Officials of Oil Industry. Sh. Niraj M Nimje, Officiating SLC Oil Industry Odisha, in his Inaugural address has stressed upon the need to conserve petroleum products at all costs as conservation and efficient use of petroleum products and use of clean and green energy will lead to environment protection and also reduce imports. He stressed upon the point that resources of petroleum products are limited and the fuel consumption is increasing rapidly. So, Oil industries along with PCRA should organize such programme in a bigger way for the noble cause to create awareness among all sectors of people about the importance of Oil and Gas conservation. Shri Pattnaik said, through sculpture & art message of fuel conservation can be propagated throughout the world.
During this period, Oil Industries, jointly with Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), will conduct training programs for Drivers on better driving habits to save fuel. Workshops will be conducted for house wives on better cooking habits to save LPG. Across the state, Quiz, debate and painting competitions will be organized in schools and colleges to emphasize upon the importance of conservation. Cyclothon ,Walkathon and Mass awareness programmes will be conducted in Agriculture & Industrial sectors, too.
Shri Niraj M Nimje, CGM (RS), OSO, Indian Oil Corporation Limited on behalf of Oil Industry-Odisha, elaborated on the activities planned to create awareness about Oil and Gas Conservation in the state. He, in his speech stressed upon the optimum utilization of fossil fuels, reduction in emission & Carbon foot print so that it will helps our environment sustain for future generations.
Three Depots of Odisha were awarded as Best Depot on KMPL basis.
Other dignitaries, Shri A.D.Jamjute, GM (Lubes), OSO, Shri Trupti Ranjan Sahu, HPCL, Shri Anmol Bara, BPCL, , Sri N Mishra, GAIL, Sri Brajagopala Acharya GM OSRTC, Shri Pradip Kumar Panda, Additional Director, PCRA, Sri Amar Balabantaray SRSM LS, OSO shared the dais at the inaugural function. On this occasion, all the people who attended the function took pledge to conserve Oil & Gas.
Shri Pradip Kumar Panda from PCRA in his vote of thanks appreciated all participants and especially thanked Sri Amar Balabantray for his dedication and whole hearted involvement in organizing a wonderful oil & Gas conservation inaugural program.
