Kaliapani: World environment day is celebrated at IMFA’s Sukinda and Mahagiri Mines Chromite on 5th June 2019. On this occasion, Students from eight high schools named Kaliapani UP/ME GP school,Kansa high school, Sourik Highschool,Chingudipal,Garamian high school,Shree Maa shree Arobindo School,Mahagiri patitapaban high school were invited along with their teachers. In the morning all the participating students, teachers along with IMFA employees planted Neem tree saplings on the mines dump area followed by mines visit and awareness about the environment protection activities carried out by Sukinda and Mahagiri Mines as part of sustainable mining activities.
This time the world environment day was highlighted on protecting air pollution. Then there was Drawing and quiz completion among students and the winners were awarded. The Teachers were honored by Sudhanshu Patni the Vice President- mining for their contribution in the mining zone for creating awareness.
One Mobile Van with loud speaker was flagged off from the mines premises and canvassed in the mining buffer zone in seven Panchayats in Sukinda Chrome Valley.
In the afternoon in Gurujang village one awareness program was organised among the women Self Help Groups and other villagers where Kaliapani sarpanch Kalpana Jena and Samiti Sabhya Sangeeta Pradhan, Ward Member Shyam Babu were present. One Quiz program was organised and the winners were awarded and around 200 fruit bearing plants were distributed among the women group memebrs.
Sudhanshu Patni- VP Mining along with the mines managers Lalatendu Mahapatra and Manoj Samal, Sudam Barik- DGM Environment enlighted about the activities carried out and need of creating awareness on Environment protection.
All the activities were organised by Samarendra Swain of environment department. Other officials like Jagan Mohan Mallick, Milan Ranjan Kar, Sandeep Mishra,Girish Pattnaik, Subasish Pattnaik, Anadi Ojah, Manisha Mohanty, Kamal Lochan Mishra, Mihir Mishra, Abhay Pandey, Debasish Samal, Churchill Mohanty, Hiranya Nayak, BIPF mobilisers Purna Mahanta and Hemalata Mahanta also cooperated.
Branch Committee members Bharat Rout, Subrat Jena, Sushant Rana contributed in the program to make it successful.
