Bhubaneswar: Hindi fortnight was celebrated from 1st to 15th September in all regional offices and production units of National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) for promoting use of Hindi in day to day official work and encouraging the employees to work in Hindi. Essay, debate, noting, dictation and quiz competitions were organised in separate groups of Hindi-speaking and Non-Hindi speaking employees. Colorful posters & story writing competitions on the theme of Mahatma Gandhi was organised amongst the students.
Dr. T.K. Chand, CMD, NALCO graced the Valedictory Ceremony of the Hindi fortnight as the Chief Guest at NALCO’s Corporate Office and gave away prizes to the winners of different competitions and Late Shankar Dayal Singh Memorial Awards.
Hindi Day Message of Shri Prahlad Joshi, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines, Govt. of India was read out at the event.
Dr. Chand, in his address, said “Aluminium Ingots produced by NALCO has the Company’s name inscribed both in Hindi & English and is exported to 26 countries, along with our world class products. Hindi language also travels across the globe. Use of Hindi in official work is continuously promoted in NALCO through training, incentives, competitions and prizes.” Dr. Chand stressed on usage simple words in Hindi, so that all employees can do their work in Hindi smoothly.
Shri B.K. Thakur, Director (HR) graced the occasion as Guest of Honor and handed over awards to the participating awards.
It may be noted that during the fortnight, several events were organised at various units of NALCO, including a Hindi Hasya Kavi-Sammelan at Damanjodi.
