New Delhi: ‘Odisha Parba-2019’, a three day-long mega celebration of Odisha’s culture, tradition, heritage, cuisine, handicrafts and handlooms witnessed heavy footfall on its second day. Odisha Parba is organised by Odia Samaj in the heart of National Capital at Lawn No-5, India Gate. The Parba which would be open for public till 17th March is an opportunity for people to experience the unique art, culture, heritage, tradition, cuisine, dance, music and various other delights from this beautiful coastal state. The Parba is also showcasing a vision for Future of Odisha.
Gracing the 2nd evening of this splendid Parba as Chief Guest of the occasion Prof. Shri Ganeshi Lal, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha said, “when the world is concerned, people generally, geographically, territorially say as a fact that it is a state of India, it is in the universe. But what I feel is the total universe “the total Brahmand” is in Odisha. Say one thing which is in universe and not in Odisha. If you find politically, world’s greatest leader Netajee, is from Cuttack, Odisha too. Odisha has always rose and revolted. It is a galaxy of revolutionaries. It is a land of divinity. From North-East, India will rise. Odisha will attract everybody”. Hon’ble Governor of Odisha also lauded the organiser for such grand endeavour.
Shri Sidhartha Pradhan, President of Odia Samaj said, “We are delighted to witness such a huge gathering here. After the successful two edition of Odisha Parba, we wanted to give even a better experience this time and the huge gathering of people is a testimony to our hard work and commitment. Through this festival we are showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Odisha and a vision for future of Odisha. It is very satisfying to see people enjoying the glimpses of our culture through the handlooms and intricate handicraft designs available for display and sale here and the visitors are relishing the mouth-watering dishes like Dahibara, Odia Thalis, typical sweet dishes from different corners of Odisha and most importantly wide range of colourful cultural programmes by famous artists from Odisha etc.”
Among others Padma Shri Geeta Mahalik, Indian Classical Dancer attended the event as Guest of Honour and many eminent personalities from different sectors of Odisha were present on the second day of Odisha Parba 2019 at New Delhi.
DAY 2 Highlights:
Cultural performances unfurled on the Day 2 of the Parba with a dance drama Bhakta Prahlada. Dhemsa Tribal dance and Dheebara, Chhau dance added more colour to this beautiful evening.
An exquisite Odissi dance performance by Guru Kasturi Pattnaik’s disciples titled Kanchi Abhijan mesmerized the audience. 2nd day of event also witnessed melodious Odia songs Ama Rasogola by eminent singer Susmita Das. Modern Mishmash dance Mo Odisha-1936, evergreen song of Odisha duet dance form Rangabati, Dance of Valour-Paikeli Nritya, Nari Shakti-Fusion of Eastern & Western Folk Dances were another attractions of the evening. Live musical show Sangeet Suman by popular singers from Odisha Abhijit Majumdar and Suman Das enthralled the music lovers in the evening.
The entrance gate to the event has been designed in a traditional boat style called Boita reflecting Odisha’s glorious maritime trade history and depicts sunrise- symbolizing development of Eastern part of India specifically development of Odisha. A grand stage has been set up with backdrop of a lotus flower to symbolize the vision of flourishing or blooming Odisha. A miniature of famous Mukteswar Temple of Bhubaneswar, Odisha has been set up at the venue which is also attracting the visitors to click a Selfie Photo with this frame. A miniature of Bullock Cart, a traditional mode of transportation, Palki, Tea Pot has been placed in the theme area which reflects an ambience of rural Odisha. A mini replica of Sandook (A big container box traditionally used by merchants sailing for maritime trade to keep valuables), which is also considered as a traditional treasure of every Odia family has been set up displaying solar lighting system is symbolizing the vision for a future of Odisha. A 3D mapping film on the theme of ‘Utkal Uday’ is the highlight of the event. Sale and display of beautiful artifacts and exquisite handlooms, mouth-watering Odia delicacies, folk dances and music shows are some special aspects of the mega event.
Like 2nd edition of Odisha Parba 2018, spreading over an area of 2 lakh 60 thousand sq. ft, this year ‘Odisha Parba 2019’ is showcasing the vision for a futuristic Odisha and how during ancient times Odisha was one of the most prominent states of the country with a rich maritime trade history. More than 80 food, handicraft and handloom stalls have been placed in this Parba. Thousands of people from Delhi NCR visited the Parba on its second day and heavy footfall was seen at applique & jute handicraft stalls.
The Parba is open from 12 PM to 10 PM on 17th March 2019. Entry to the event is free.
