Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Factories and Boilers (F&B) organized one-day Safety Convergence Meet – 2019 with the theme “Safety in Steel and Power Sector for Vision Zero” at GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) in Dhenkanal District. Around 600 delegates participated including factory owners, safety professionals, technical experts, skilled and unskilled workers, and safety products manufacturers.
The Director of Factories and Boilers, Niranjan Sahu inaugurated the workshop and explained the 10-point action plan for reduction of accident. Ramesh Kumar Behera, Deputy Director of Factories & Boilers (Safety) – Headquarters, Abani Kanta Naik, Deputy Director of Factories & Boilers, Angul Division, GKEL COO Ramesh R Pai, TATA BSL Ltd COO Subodh Pandey and Nalco ED Manasa Misra took part and deliberated their views on safety and occupational health.
Director Niranjan Sahu urged the factory managements to work hard as a team, use technology and share best practices to realise the vision zero dream. He appreciated the initiatives by industries to implement 10-point action plan formulated by the government. He also visited the GKEL plant and appreciated the safety measures adopted by the company.
Twenty-four workers were recognized for their contribution in the field of safety. He also launched Safety Mobile App of GKEL, NALCO, JSPL, TATA BSL, Paradeep Phosphate as part of initiative under 5T for technology enabled compliance management. Many safety products companies displayed their wares in stalls provided for the purpose. GKEL also displayed the products of various SHGs in the neighbouring villages promoted by the company. Sudhanshu Sekhar Sahoo, ADFB, Dhenkanal, Biswajit Panigrahi, ADFB (Safety) Headquarters and Umakanta Samantaray, ADFB, Angul coordinated the program along with official from GKEL.
