Export Opportunities in Chemical Sector – Potentials and Way Forward post pandemic

New Delhi: The Gujarat Chapter of PHDCCI organized a Webinar on ‘Export Opportunities in Chemical Sector Post Pandemic.

 

Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, President, PHDCCI in his Presidential Address after welcoming all dignitaries present, provided an overview of the Chemical sector industry in India backed by facts and figures. He lauded the schemes of the Government in boosting domestic exports and production and urged the stakeholders to promote the ‘Make in India’ campaign to put a thrust on export opportunities.

 

Mr. Ashish Desai, Chair, Gujarat chapter, PHDCCI in his address stressed on the importance of utilizing home grown products to its full potential thereby upholding the objectives mooted by PM Shri Narendra Modi to be more self-reliant. He opined that the export opportunities in India has numerous challenges, however, they can be resolved and catered to if the relevant stakeholders are provided support thereby boosting the economy.

 

Shri Samir Kumar Biswas, Addl. Secy. (Chemicals), Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers (Govt. of India) in his Keynote address thanked PHDCCI for welcoming him on the Webinar and provided his insights on the Chemical Sector being one of the major backbone of Indian economy. He also reiterated on the fact that the manufacturers and exporters while building ties with Asian nations for exports, they need to also know the intricacies of doing business within the country to explore newer opportunities.

 

Shri Dharmendra Kumar Madan, Director (Chemicals), Department of Chemicals & Petro Chemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers (Govt. of India) in his special address harped on the issues and challenges faced by the stakeholders in Chemical industry and emphasized on the importance of having better facilitators to provide opportunities to the relevant stakeholders to be able to do ease of business within the boundaries of the country.

 

Mr. Natubhai Patel, President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided his views on why the Chemical sector especially the Dyestuff Manufacturers are the most effected due to the Pandemic and how the schemes of the Government can help them revive from the loss and automatically pave way for opportunities.

 

Mr. Jagdish Bhatia, Faculty & Consultant in Export Import gave a presentation on the status and trends in Chemical Exports and showcased with multiple facts and figures the untapped markets where in the exporters and manufacturers can initiate discussions for relationships and boost their profits. He also stressed on the importance of the schemes of the Government which can be beneficial for the economy.

 

Mr. Anil Jain, Chairman, Foreign Trade Committee, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry shared his knowledge on the hurdles faced by the Exporters in the Chemical Sector. He said that though there are underlying schemes by the Government but the paperwork in place is very tedious owing to cutting short the interest of the Exporters to avail the benefits and hence the profits has been very marginal and the loss becomes inevitable.

 

Mr. Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary General, PHDCCI gave his Concluding Remarks and summed up the issues and challenges faced by the Chemical Sector.

 

The Webinar was attended by 60 delegates from industry personnel in Chemicals and Petro Chemicals and was supported by Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chemexcil, Gujarat Chemical Association and Gujarat Dye Manufacturers Association.
