Bhubaneswar: DAV Public School, Pokhariput celebrated its Annual Day ‘MERAKI- Maneuvering Marvel Through Action-2019’ on Friday on its premises on a grand and spectacular scale which witnessed the lively and energetic participation of students. As the name suggests the cultural extravaganza was a self-projection of creativity and talent of the DAVians.
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest Mr. Prem Chandra Chaudhary, IAS, Commissioner, BMC and Vice chairman BDA and the other illustrious dignitaries followed by the musical ecstasy in chorus by Std.IX and XI students. The school Principal Dr. (Ms.) Sujata presented the annual report by enumerating the school’s achievements and the latest milestones in all arenas. The students, the teachers and the other staff members were felicitated with gold medals and trophies by the guests for their noteworthy achievements in scholastic and co-scholastic areas.
The secondary students initiated the cultural exploration with a vibrant classical Odishi dance performance ‘Shivdhami’. Tiny tots of LKG and UKG staged ‘Bande Me Tha Dum’, a programme dedicated to Bapuji. A dance tribute ‘Talash-E-Zindegi’ by students of IX & XI, ‘Pala Pathayan’, a tribute to Odia culture by the students of VI & VII, ‘Dharti Ki Pukar’ by Std.III and IV, and Yoga ‘Celebrating Fitness’ by Std.VI students moved the hearts of the audience adding zing to the celebration.
The Chief Guest Mr. Prem Chandra Chaudhary congratulated the school on its glorious achievements. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of life skills in building better human beings than academics. The Chairman of the School Managing Committee Mr.M.M.Panda in his welcome address advised students to lead a disciplined life for success. The Regional Officer of DAV Institutions, Odisha zone-I Dr. K.C.Satpathy highlighted on developing humility for scaling greater heights. Mrs. Basant Manjari Satpathy and the Principals of Sahodaya Schools Complex, Bhubaneswar Chapter, and the heads of the sister concern schools graced the occasion. Parents were the happiest gathering as they see their children performing so elegantly on stage.
