Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of citizens enjoyed the viewing of the counting process and the continuous updates of the results for the formation of 17th Lok Sabha and the respective Assemblies at Biju Patnaik Park today with arrangements done by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
While the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha placed a LED screen of 10X12 feet size at one of the biggest parks of the city, also known as Forest Park locally, BDA has taken up the work of making a temporary setup to accommodate public of around 400 including the park goers and people interested in the result declaration process. They made the use of the facility and enjoyed their time with a relaxed atmosphere on the green laws of the leading city park.
The position of the giant LED screen at Biju Patnaik Park was on the lawn near its main entrance. The LED screen was placed atop a raised platform for better viewing of the public. The public viewing of counting at the park started at 8 am and continued till the counting was in force.
Pitambar Parida, a resident of Pokhariput came to see the election results declaration and the venue at Biju Patnaik Park to have the updates after reading the reports in today’s newspapers.
“The arrangements done by the development authority and CEC is very good, but more city parks should have been added to facilitate more people to see the updates as in many houses the dish antennas are still not functioning after the severe cyclonic storm Fani,’’ Parida added.
BDA also used four of its exiting LEDs at Kalpana Square, Kalinga Hospital square, Rupali Square and near Lingaraj Temple, Old Town of 15X10 feet size so that the people on the move could also see the live updates as they were watching the counting process live. The LED screens were erected during the Odisha Mens’ World Cup Hockey 2018.
