Vedanta Spearheads Community Street Lighting

Lanjigarh: The people of Lanjigarh received massive respite from unsafe travelling in the dark corridors of Lanjigarh, Kalahandi where they have been plying without the streetlights since a long time. Addressing the difficult situation, Vedanta came forward to support them by providing street lighting from Lanjigarh to material gate, a stretch of 3.6 KM.

Today in a programme, Mr. Balabhadra Majhi, MLA Lanjigarh in presence of Er. Fakir Mohan Majhi, Chairman Lanjigarh block, Mrs. Tulasi Majhi, Vice Chairman Lanjigarh block, Mr. Pradip Majhi, Samiti member Lanjigarh GP, Ms. Mani Majhi, Sarpanch Lanjigarh GP along with Mr. KA Chowdary, Project Head Vedanta Ltd Lanjigarh, Mr. Phillip Campbell, Director Technical and Mrs. Harmeet Sehra, Chief Community development Officer, Vedanta Ltd., Lanjigarh laid the foundation stone for the much needed project.

Speaking during the occasion, Mr. Balabhadra Majhi appreciated the effort of Vedanta for proactive community development and encouraged to continue its various ongoing efforts for the well-being of the nearby community. Mr. KA Chowdary reiterated the effort of Vedanta towards development of the region as a necessity. Industrialization and community development complement each other and with an integrated approach, the region shall be developed sooner, he said.

Through this initiative, people of Lanjigarh and nearby region will be greatly benefitted. It is expected that the project shall be completed in three months’ time.

Present on the occasion were local intellectuals, youth club members, Women SHG members, Vedanta CSR officials and other company officials.
