Bhubaneswar: A One Day Training-cum-Workshop on Rooftop / Kitchen Garden Programme followed by an Exhibition on Safe Food was jointly organized on the eve of world Kitchen Garden Day by the Kitchen Gardeners’ Association, NIRMAN, Ekamra Walkers Club,Sanskrutik Samiti, Bhubaneswar and IGSSS, New Delhi on 26th August 2018 at State Quality Control Laboratory, Bhubaneswar.
This one day programme was attended by the representatives of NGOs, Corporate Bodies, Government Officials have shared their ideas and experience on Rooftop Gardening / Kitchen Gardening in the workshop. Prof. Radhamohan, Environmentalist and Social Activist, Shri Anup Kumar, GM, NABARD, Shri Samarendra Sahoo, IES, CEO, IED, Dr. S. N. Behera, Former Director of Horticulture, Dr. A. S. Rajput, RD, RCOF, Smt.Saswati Mishra, Councilor, BMC, Dr. Sabita Mishra, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIWA, Shri Prasant Mohanty, Director, NIRMAN, Shri Suresh Bisoyi, NIRMAN, Shri Ekadashi Nandi, attended as Guests of Honour in the said workshop.
The objective of the Workshop-cum-Training Programme was to aware people to introduce / demonstrate / make available safe and healthy production of vegetables at household level. The participants present in the workshop were also taught on how to formulate and demonstrate healthy kitchen gardening activities in urban & peri-urban areas of smart city Bhubaneswar on Fresh, cheaper, healthy and pesticide free vegetables at home level with active involvement of the young generation/female gender and family members in healthy and productive activity. The Workshop-cum-Training and Exhibition’s were in line with the objectives of agricultural development which are to achieve self-reliance in agricultural commodities, to ensure food security and to improve productivity of crops through Rooftop / Kitchen Gardening Programme.
