Mumbai: World Trade Centre, Mumbai in association with All India Association of Industries organized its flagship event Global Economic Summit 2018 at the Expo Centre, World Trade Centre Mumbai from 22 to 24 February 2018.World Trade Centre, Bhubaneswar with active support of MSME Department, Government of Odisha promoted the trade and business potentials of the State of Odisha.
Selected exporters from the state took the opportunity to demonstrate and display their products representing focus sectors such food processing, engineering, spices, handlooms and handicrafts etc. The exporters from the state gained an excellent opportunity to interact and highlight their products at a global platform and explore greater market for their products. Minister, MSME Sri Prafulla Samal and Additional Chief Secretary Sri Laxmi Narayan Gupta graced the summit and encouraged the export houses.

Singh Minister of State for External Affairs ,Sri Kamal Morarka, Chairman World Trade Centre, ,Mumbai Sri Vijay Kalantri, President of All India Association of Industries/Vice Chairman of World Trade Center, Mumbai and Director International of World Trade Centers Association, New York City, Sri Somesh Batra, Vice Chirman, World Trade Centre, Mumbai and Chairman of World Trade Centre, Bhubaneswar. He deliberated on many issues and challenges faced by the MSME Sector and emphasised on integration of Global Value Chains for their long term sustainability. He informed the esteemed dignitaries about the various initiatives taken by Government of Odisha to promote Small and Medium Enterprises across sectors such as extending financial support to establish linkages with external stakeholders. He clearly envisioned the state government’s measures encompassing the entire spectrum of the ecosystem.
He further emphasized towards creating proactive steps in promoting the business and
investment opportunities. He highlighted Odisha as a state of opportunities with the export policy, legal acts and many more such Govt supportive policies meant to support MSMEs. He was delighted to announce the 6thEdition of the Odisha MSME INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR from 5th-10 th March 2018 focusing on Food Processing Sector and 2nd Edition of Make In Odisha Conclave during November 2018.

He shared vital information about establishment of Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) with an aim to train 11 Lakh youths by 2019-20 and 8.5 lakh youths have already been skilled. He said that Odisha has been promoting the brand “Skilled in Odisha” globally with an objective to provide outstanding skilled work force comparable to the best in the world. He further added that promotions of Start-ups, Innovation and Entrepreneurship remain top priority of Government of Odisha, stating that Government of Odisha has also started Start-ups Odisha Initiative with the launch of Start-up Odisha Policy last year with a mission to support 1000 start ups and vision of emerging amongst top 3 start-up hubs in the country.

Ambassador of Poland, Representative of United Nations, ISRO, Minister Counsellor, Uganda High Commission, Counsellor High Commission of Bhutan, Director General Trade Promotion of Cambodia, Representatives from Foxconn India and sought their support in attracting investment and their participation in MSME International Trade Fair scheduled in March 2018 and the Make-inOdisha Conclave to be held in November 2018
