Vedanta Lanjigarh observed World Toilet Day, conducted rallies

Lanjigarh: Observing World Toilet Day, Vedanta Limited, Aluminium & Power Business’s Lanjigarh unit oragnised an awareness program in Govt. SSD High School, Ambadola in partnership with Block Education Department. Over 900 students, teachers, parents and community members attended the programme.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Rakesh Mohan, Chief Operating Offcer– Vedanta, Lanjigarh unit said, “We aspire to support the needs of the community towards building a developed nation. Such programs help the community to lead a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.”
The programme was inaugurated by the Block Education Officer, Muniguda in the presence of senior officials of Vedanta and doctors from Vedanta Hospital, Lanjigarh. The program highlighted on following sanitation practices, controlling open defecation, and promoting toilet usage to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Activities conducted included street plays, drawing competitions among various awreness activties. The program ended with a rally led by the students on sanitation practices and use of toilet to reduce diseases and illnesses.
It is noteworthy that peripheral six gram panchayats of Vedanta unit at Lanjigarh, Jagannathpur, Baterlima, Chhatrapur, Basantapada, Lanjigarh and Champadeipur have been decalred Open Defecation Free (ODF).
Many district officials, local leaders, villagers, NGO workers and Vedanta officials were present during the program.
