State Level SHG Convention on Financial Inclusion & Women Empowerment

Bhubaneswar: In the present era, the Self Help Group takes a major part in Women Empowerment & Financial Inclusion. Including women in the financial mainstream and making them financially literate is the most important action areas towards empowering them. Today, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Odisha | Sourav Garg who inaugurated the State level SHG Convention organised by Odisha State Association for Financial Inclusion Institutions (OSAFII) at the Railway Auditorium, Bhubaneswar spoke at length on the importance of women empowerment in poverty alleviation.
Manager|Reserve Bank of India, Sri Sunil Das stated on how we should unitedly work to reach the unreached by banks and other financial institutions. Among others, General Manager NABARD | Sri A P Das, Chief General Manager SIDBI | Sri Prakash Kumar, Women Activist Padmashree Smt. Tulasi Munda, Project Manager Odisha Livelihood Mission | Sri Debashis Mahapatra, OUAT Professor | Sri Bibhuti Bhusan Mishra, Convenor State level Bankers Committee | Sri P.K.C Das, DGM State Bank of India, | Sri Arun Agarwala attended the Programme and discussed on the burning topics of Digital Financial literacy, Financial Inclusion, Women Empowerment, Skill development and Market Linkages.
OSAFII is an organization that is establishing network between all the government and non-government institutions of the State and is working keenly on Financial inclusion of the women as stated by CEO OSAFII | Sri Narendra Nayak. On this occasion, XIMB Professor | Sri P.K Mishra launched the book that is a collection of success stories on 50 SHG women who took microloans and started their own small businesses to earn for themselves.
An approx. of 1000 SHG women from 30 districts of Odisha attended the programme and got an opportunity to share their experiences on a common platform. All the discussions and debates concluded at a single point: opportunity to access financial products and services. As the Financial Inclusion agenda continues to be on the rise, the only option for greater women’s financial inclusion is a more gender inclusive financial system that addresses the barriers that a woman face in the society.
The programme was conducted by OSAFII President | Sri Dibya jyoti Pattnayak,| Sri Mohammed Amin Secretary, Member Smt Nayana Mohanty and | OSAFII CEO | Sri Narendra Nayak. The Convention ended on a high note with Vote of Thanks by Sri Deepak Kindo, Jugal Kishore Pattnayak & Sri Govind Das.
