Bhubaneswar: Odisha is well on course to become the manufacturing hub of the East with Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister, Government of Odisha today conducting the second groundbreaking ceremony via videoconferencing at the Odisha State Secretariat.In the aftermath of the Make in Odisha Conclave 2016, the first groundbreaking ceremony was held in November, 2017 for 15 manufacturing unitswhich grounded investments worth INR 11,690 Cr with scope to generate 8,187 jobs. The second groundbreaking ceremony witnessed the inauguration of 7 manufacturing units and groundbreaking of 12 units with cumulative investment grounded at INR 2,675 Crore.
Most notably, these projects demonstrate implementation of State’s vision to broad-base industrial development beyond the mineral-based industries. The projects are in diverse sectors including textiles & apparel, chemicals, fertilizers, cement, food-processing, downstream among others.
Speaking during the ceremony, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaiksaid, “The Make in Odisha Conclave in 2016 was an important milestone in our journey of industrial development and helped generate investment intents in diverse sectors, other than the traditional areas of mines, metals and energy. To ensure that the investments intents received during the conclave are converted quickly, my government has worked with a dedicated focus to ensure that all required support such as land, utilities and Departmental clearances are made available to them expeditiously.I am also delighted to inform you that 2 of the projects for which groundbreaking took place on Nov 16, 2017 have been inaugurated today and will go into production in a little over 6 months. This underscores our position as the Number 1 state in India in terms of investment implementation rate.”
The logo for the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018 was also unveiled by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. The second edition of the biennial Make in Odisha Conclave 2018 has been scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 11-15, 2018.

With the objective of attracting 2.5 lakh crore of fresh investments and generating 30 lakh job opportunities as part of Hon’ble CM Shri Naveen Patnaik’s Vision – 2025, the Government of Odisha is diversifying and broadening the state’s industrial development across the focus sectors. Odisha’s investor-friendly policies and the development of world-class infrastructure have received very positive feedback from investors across the country as the State has been able to create an ideal business ecosystem for various sectors to flourish in the state. Over the last 3 years, the State Government has embarked upon the implementation of a Business Reforms Program to make it easier for companies to set up and operate in the state following which Odisha has been recognized as a ‘Leader’ in terms of implementation of business reforms with 92.73% score in the Ease of Doing Business Report of 2016.
ASSOCHAM has ranked Odisha as the No. 1 state in terms of investment implementation rate and the state is consistently ranked amongst the top 3 States in terms of live manufacturing investments in India. Odisha has registered a GSDP growth rate of 7.94 percent in 2016-17, surpassing the national growth rate of 7.1 percent.
