Bhubaneswar: SBI Group in association with Radio Mirchi 98.3FM is all set to go for the second edition of SBI Green Marathon across 17 cities across India. In Bhubaneswar, the date for SBI Green Marathon is locked on 3rd of February 2019. SBI Group is expecting a huge crowd of more than 2100 participants in this Marathon, in 3 race categories, i.e. 5K, 10K and 21K timed runs. To popularize this event, SBI Group has planned for two promotional runs prior to the actual event and successfully conducted the first Promo Run on Sunday, 9th of December 2018 at Sikhar-Chandi Hill Base.
SBI witnessed a massive response to this Promo Run among the people of Bhubaneswar. Within a few hours of hosting on TownScript, all the tickets were sold out (this event was with free entry tickets). During the reporting hours at Sikharchandi hill-base, there were a huge crowd who couldn’t buy a ticket, but interested for a spot-registration for this Promo Run.
More than 140 runners lined up at the starting line by 6AM in the morning on 9th December. The beats of Punjabi Dhol with enchanting music warmed up the runners prior to the starting of the Run. It was quite amazing to see kids from 7 years to adults till 70 years gathering at the starting line to participate in this Promo Run. A group of 30 students from OUAT also joined this Green Run. The event was flagged-off exactly at 6:30 AM and runners covered the running course from Sikharchandi through Infosys, Patia Chowk, Magnet Chowk and back to Sikharchandi with a stretch of 6KMs. The fastest timing was 22 minutes followed by finishing of other participants.
Pre-event T-Shirt Distribution, on-route hydration, post-event breakfast and photography of the entire run was something that SBI Green Marathon ensured to offer a real feel of the event during this Promo Run. “We have planned event bit of this event meticulously and created small teams for various tasks. Goodies distribution at the starting line was quite smooth along with the arrangements at the Start-Line and water-points en-route. We made this Promo Run to closely resemble the actual run with its feel, enthusiasm and propagating the Green Cause.”- said Ajay Nanda, local coordinator for SBI Green Marathon.
The feelings of satisfaction were quite evident from the smiles and activities of the runners at the Finish Line. SBI is looking forward to more enthusiastic response from the Running community in Bhubaneswar with the 2nd PrLomo Run of SBI Green Marathon scheduled to be held in January 2019.
