Bhubaneswar: India Success Forum had organised the ‘Odisha CSR Conclave 2018’ on 26th September 2018 in Bhubaneswar to create awareness regarding the changing paradigm of CSR in Odisha and for better understanding on how to solve both environmental and social challenges through CSR in the state.
Shri Prafulla Samal, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Women & Child Development & MS, MSME inaugurated the Conclave as Chief Guest.Dr. (Prof.) Prasanna Kumar Patasani, Hon’ble Member of Parliament was the Guest of Honour. Other speakers were Shri Jagadananda, Mentor and Co-Founder, Centre for Youth and Social Development and Shri H S Chhatwal, Senior Director, India Success Forum.
Minister Sri samal said CSR is a value addition to society. Malnutrition, education and skill development and rural development should be prioritized. He advocated optimisation of financial resources as a CSR spend. He also stressed on mainstreaming of marginalised section of society. He further added, deliberations of the Conclave could address the pension problem of ageing population suitably extending the ambit of company act 2013. Being one of the top ten states to receive maximum CSR fund, Odisha hopes to see a surge in the coming years as it welcomes big business houses through its investment-friendly approach and at the same time, it calls for a strategic and integrated approach by the companies in executing their social agenda so that the government’s efforts to alleviate its social and environmental problems can be supported, he further added.
He said Odisha seems to be a favoured destination for the companies to execute their CSR programmes as the top ten companies having national presence have allocated 58% of their total funding in the state and 42% in rest parts of the country. The state government is fully committed to provide guidance and support for “Responsible Business’’.
Conclave showcased the Panel Discussion on CSR In Odisha by Creating Shared Value beyond Business chaired by Shri Bhaskar Parichha, FIDR. Shri Ambika Nanda, Head- CSR, TATA Steel and Mr. Phillip Turner, Head – Group HSE & Sustainability, Vedanta Limited were other panelists.
