Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik writes to PM Narendra Modi to stop disinvestment in Nalco; Says Odisha has reserved Pottangi bauxite mines for Nalco. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that further disinvestment in the company is put on hold.
He mentioned that the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of the State Government has recently approved two proposals of the Nalco for capacity expansion, Patnaik in a letter to the PM stated, “Nalco has been a symbol of Odisha’s pride. It has an excellent track record of performance and is poised for a robust growth in future.”
“The State Government has reserved the Pottangi bauxite deposit over an area of 1738.04 hectares in favour of Nalco,” the CM said in the letter.
