Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik inaugurates 14th National Chartered Accountants’ Conference in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. CM Naveen Patnaik hailed ICAI as partners in Nation building. The conference is based on theme ‘Chareibati!’, meaning ‘Moving with Adaptability & Accountability’.
Excerpts from his address at the event:
• ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body globally; provides recommendations on accounting standards in the country & on various matters relating to taxation & corporate affairs
• Chartered accountants play essential role in society by providing reliable and transparent information both in public and private sectors
• Recent introduction of GST has brought major reforms in indirect taxation, it is a challenge for Chartered Accountants to make it acceptable for business community and people at large
• Conference will sensitise members & professionals in corporate and taxation laws, accounting, auditing with emphasis on corporate governance, CSR activities and IT
Chief Minister Patnaik wished the participants the best for their future endeavors and urged them play active role in successful implementation of GST.
