JSW Steel Observed 23rd Mines Environment And Mineral Conservation Week

Barbil:  JSW Steel limited has observed 23rd Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation week in its mines in the region from 22nd February to 28th February, 2021. In line with creating awareness on conserving mineral resources and protecting environment associated with mining, the company observed this weeklong awareness campaign in Jajang, Gonua, Nuagaon and Narayanposhi Mines.
Speaking on the company’s efforts towards sustainability, Mr. Ranjan Nayak, COO, JSW Steel Limited (Odisha) has said that a sincere commitment to greener and sustainable future is core to JSW’s operations. It is a continuous endeavour to maximise the company’s efforts towards creating a sustainable future. JSW is committed to conduct its business in a socially responsible, ethical and environment-friendly manner and to work towards improving the quality of life of the communities in its operational areas and beyond. This week marks another event for us to increase our efforts to augment and enhance the green cover and encourage a culture of sustainability among our stakeholders, he added”
During the Week, the mines were inspected by mining fraternity involving mining engineers, environment officers, mineral processing engineers and geologists from various mining companies who evaluated the mine wise performance based on systematic mining, environment protection and mineral conservation formed by the Organising committee with consent of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM). The public representatives from villages lying in core and buffer zone of mines were also invited to the programme.
In order to sensitize the employees, workers and nearby local people, various awareness activities were conducted such as drawing, Slogan and quiz competition in school as well as in mines. A plantation drive was also conducted during the week.
