Tensa: In recognition of its excellence in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), the TRB Iron Ore Mines of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) has been selected for TPM Excellence Award-2017 (Category-B) by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM), Tokyo, Japan. This was declared by the internationally acclaimed institute on Wednesday.
Expressing pleasure on the achievement, JSPL’s Executive Director & Group Head (Mines and Mineral) Shri Ashish Kumar said, “TPM Award by JIPM is an internationally recognised award of excellence. I congratulate the Tensa team for promoting highest standards in production, quality, occupational safety, health and environment friendliness for which they deserved this international award. I am sure that this will definitely set a new world class bench mark for mining industry driving to quality excellence in sustainable mining”.
With the award, irrespective of mining sectors i.e. coal, iron, bauxite, manganese etc., Tensa mines becomes the first unit in India to have been chosen for the award.
Congratulating employee and workers of the mines Unit Head of TRB Mines, Shri Pramod Kumar Patra said, “We are extremely delighted to earn recognition for TPM Excellence from JIPM. This reflects JSPL’s commitment towards highest standards in its operation”.
As per the audits done by JIPM in July- 2017 and January-2018, TRB Mines significantly improved its quality, productivity, safety, cost and delivery through the implementation of TPM systems and processors.
Mentionably, JSPL’s pellet plant in Barbil was bestowed with the prestigious international award by JIPM in 2016, the first pellet plant in the world to receive the award from JIPM, Japan.
